Zoocolate Thrills

After a long, tiring and fun filled day going around Bohol.  It was nice to slow down for a while, take a break and recharge for a while. Good thing We passed by Zoocolate Thrills after visiting Bohol Habitat Conservation Center Butterfly Sanctuary.  Zoocolate Thrills another brain child of the Zoomanity Group, the same team that is behind Zoobic Safari (located in the Subic Bay Freeport Zone), Residence Inn (located in Tagaytay), Paradizoo(located in Mendez, Cavite also near Tagaytay), and Zoocobia Fun Zoo (located in Clark Freeport Zone).

Holy Carabao Balik Bukid 2013 (Revisited)

Amidst a very hot summer day, We decided to get out of the house and go to Holy Carabao for their Balik Bukid 2013 country fair event.  Though We've here a couple of times before, it's always a joy to go here, not really because of the place but because of their staff who are always more than willing to assist you.  Same as before entrance is free for the Balik Bukid event, however, you’d have to pay Php 300+ to use some of the facilities. Your free to go around the fun farm and visit the different stalls and booths that were set-up.  This years Balik Bukid event, drew a lot more people.  There were also a lot more exhibitors present, so there were a lot more shops to visit and items to choose from.  Nice to see that most of the shops were being attended to by the actual owners, you get to enjoy a little conversation with them and you learn a little something about their business and products that they sell.  Since We’ve been to Holy Carabao’s Fun Farm before, We’ve decided to try activities We’ve never tried before.

The Mind Museum at Taguig

Had a chance last Friday to join my sons educational trip at The Mind Museum in Taguig along with his CFA schoolmates.  Was really looking forward to this day and almost didn’t make it due to commitments at work, as it was the first time We would be visiting The Mind Museum.  Originally, only my son and I would be joining the activity as my other 2 kids (aged 2 and 2 months)  were still too young to enjoy the exhibits and  besides the entrance fee was too expensive.  However, at the last minute my wife decided to bring the entire family. We got a discount for the tickets for the school activity, as We only paid for Php 600 for 1 child (Php 450) and a teacher (Php 150), since CFA was a home school. We needed 3 more tickets 2 for my wife and her sister and 1 for our little girl, who too tall to pass below 2 ft.  The regular ticket for adults is Php 600 and Php 450 for kids, so this meant that We’d have to pay an additional Php 1650 for the tickets. Good thing there was a promo for Student Price for All Ages during Tuesdays-Fridays.  However, there is a small catch to the discount.  You have to shoot on the spot a 20 second video telling them what you would like to invent and why?  Seems simple enough, so I gave it a shot and got a Php 150 discount for each adult ticket. So instead of paying Php 1650 for the additional tickets, We just paid Php 1350. Not bad, if I may say so myself.

Manila Ocean Park Discount Package

This is the 3rd time We've visited Manila Ocean Park since it formally opened a couple of years ago.  A lot of new attractions have been added aside from a variety of programs and shows where the whole family can watch and enjoy.  Come to think of it, you can actually spend an entire day at Manila Ocean Park if you'd be going to every attraction and watching the different shows, as they are spread at specific showing times throughout the day.  However, since We brought our 2 kids aged  5 and 2 with us , We decide to skip the shows due to their short attention spans.

Picnic Grove Tagaytay

You haven't really been to Tagaytay if you haven't visited Picnic Grove Tagaytay.   Picnic Grove Tagaytay is probably one of the more famous land marks of the City.   With a scenic view of Taal Lake and a huge picnic area, family and friends can go out and literally have a picnic overlooking the majestic Taal Volcano. The cool weather makes going out more enjoyable and fun.  A minimal charge of Php 50 per adult is collected for the entrance fee,  Php 35 for kids 4 yrs. and above.  Parking is Php 35 for cars but costs a little bit more for bigger vehicles.  There are other activities you can enjoy at Picnic Grove besides having a barbeque and a party. There’s the traditional horse back riding that goes for Php 150/hr.  You rent a bike or binoculars to check-out the view, fly a kite as there are kites for rent, go on the zip line or cable car, or you can just relax and enjoy a fish spa w/ free foot massage for Php 199.

There's no better way to enjoy the wind and cool breeze than flying kites.

Enjoy the spectacular view of Taal Lake.

After a tiring day, take a break, relax and enjoy a soothing fish spa w/ free foot massage.

Paradizoo Theme Farm

Paradizoo Theme Farm which is the 2nd half of voucher We've got from MetroDeal is just about a 15 minute drive by car from Residence Inn Zoo.  But don't worry as there are shuttle buses that take visitors from to and from Residence Inn Zoo and Paradizoo Theme Farm.  Paradizoo Theme Farm is a 7 hectare farm which has farm animals which you can feed, an organic garden, a butterfly garden, and a honey bee farm among others.  There is also an infinity pond where you could go fishing.  Unfortunately, the fish were still too small during our visit, so We weren't allowed to go fishing.  You can buy eggs, vegetables, crops, and honey which are organically farmed and harvested at the Zoo. The Staff are friendly and are willing to walk you through the various attractions or answer whatever inquiries you may have. Overall, the Paradizoo Theme Farm is a fun learning experience.

Experience life on the farm by feeding the farm animals.

Visit the Butterfly garden and learn and see how caterpillars turn-out into beautiful butterflies.

Check-out the honey bee yard, learn about bees and how honey is made.

Residence Inn Zoo Tagaytay

We used the voucher from Metro Deal worth Php 190 for a zoo adventure at Residence Inn Zoo & Zip Line Ride and the Paradizoo Theme Farm.  Original price for this deal is Php 399. Good thing we went there after last weeks long weekend so We got to enjoy the place less the crowd of people.  The weather was also cooperating as there was mostly cloudly skies with ocassional drissles of rain.  This made moving along the zoo cool and comfortable.

The Residence Inn Zoo gives you the chance to experience feeding the animals hands-on... Bird seeds are worth Php 10 per pack.

You could also feed other animals such as goats, horses, and monkeys with fresh fruits and vegetables. This is a great learning experience with your kids as they get to interact with these animals on a personal level. Fresh  vegetables and banana are worth Php 20 per pack.  Our kids enjoyed it so much that we bought atleast Php 200 worth of feeds.

Enjoy the view of Taal Volcano by riding the Zip Line and cable car, which is free from this promo from Metro Deal.

Take a break and enjoy some cotton candy and cold drinks.

Take a crack at wall climbing for Php 100.

Go horse back riding for Php 50, which is good for 3 rounds.

Alabang Town Center Activity Center Play Area

Whenever your passing through Alabang Town Center with your kids, you could always take them to Alabang Town Centers Activity Center Play area where they could play with the slides and climb the bars. Your kids get to interact with other children and make new friends. There is a small fountain in the area, where kids go and play with the water. Kids have this strong fascination with water. The fountain looks even more beautiful at night as it is illuminated with lights of different colors. Use of the facility is free and you get to rest on the benches near the play area while your kids go around and play. Talk to other parents while you wait and make new acquaintances. You could also take you snack on the benches to keep your kids preoccupied as to take your much needed break.

SM Muntinlupa, SM Cinemas and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II in 2D

Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows - Part 2: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack [+video] [+Digital Booklet]

Technology has greatly increased the quality of movies. Stunning visual effects and captivating graphics has taken movies into a whole new realm. The advent of 3D movies has also taken movie goers into a whole new experience. Now a days 3D movies are becoming the new standard for Movies. But this does not entirely make 2D movies obsolete.  As there is a huge difference in price and not all movies are themed for 3D viewing.

We've been going to SM Muntinlupa for the last 3 Harry Potter films now and have found it to be enjoyable.
The cinemas are relatively new so the seats and carpeting still smell good and are in good working condition.
There are no long queue's at the ticket booth and the Cinema Entrance.  The Cinema is rarely filled-up so you
could choose a nice seat to occupy. Just to make sure it is best to go see the 1st screening time or last full
show. Always bring your jacket in case the air condition becomes too cold. SM Muntinlupa is ideal for people living in the Muntinlupa and San Pedro Laguna. For Php 141 only, you can enjoy movies such as Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 in 2D.  Though it is better to see the last installment of the Harry Potter series in digital 3D as this episode is more action packed and visually captivating than the previous installments.

Nevertheless watching movies at SM Cinemas Muntinlupa is a blast especially if your just out to have fun, relax and enjoy a movie...

Kawasan Falls, Cebu Philippines

January 2011

Located in Brgy. Badian Cebu City, Kawasan Falls is a truly a wonder of nature famous among locals and frequented by tourists. Consisting of 3 water falls, Kawasan Falls is an ideal nature destination for family and friends. A variety of flora and fauna can be seen along the trail. For an entrance fee of Php 10 you can enjoy the wonders of nature.

Marvel at the wonders and beauty of nature.

The 1st waterfall, is the most frequently visited falls as it is the easiest to access as you would mostly be trekking on flat land. Take a dip on the cool and clear water.  Ride a bamboo raft and take a relaxing "waterfall" massage.

For Php 200 you could rent a picnic table beside the falls, where you and your friends could have a picnic and a good conversation while enjoying the view.  However, please be mindful of your trash and pick-up after your finished.  Cottages are also available for rent for people who would want to stay for the night.

The 2nd waterfall is as stunning as the 1st one.  However, a little effort is required in reaching it as you would need to climb over rocks.  I'd say the trip is worth it and a little more exercise is good for the body. Reaching the 3rd and last falls, would require a lot of effort and not recommended if your travelling with small children and carrying heavy loads as the trek is much more steeper and would require you to cross over bamboo bridges.  However, it's a recommended activity for those who desire to experience a bit more adventure.

Do something different and ride floaters made from the interior of truck wheels and go down the river.
